Sodium bicarbonate can be used as a homemade toothpaste, an excellent alternative to the commercial products. It is a perfect whitener that freshens breath, reduces tartar and prevents cavities.

It can be used in combination with regular toothpaste or directly on the brush. Gargling with a solution of baking soda and water eliminates bad odors and halitosis.

It can also be used to clean dentures and braces. Prepare a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda in one cup of water. Then soak the dentures or braces so that they can be cleaned.

Grooming

Sodium bicarbonate works like a homemade deodorant thanks to its properties that neutralize acids from the skin and eliminate underarm odors.

Make a paste with a little water and apply. If you suffer from dandruff, rub a handful of baking soda on the scalp and wash your hair normally. Repeat this six times.

If your dog or cat is regularly infested with fleas or you want to repel them, prepare a mixture of baking soda and salt and sprinkle it over bedding and in corners or other areas where pets are frequent. Leave it for 24 hours and then vacuum.

If you want to expel roaches from your home, make a mixture of half part baking soda and half part sugar. Apply it to areas in the kitchen.
