Facial peels can be used to scrape off the external skin layer to remove dead skin cells that give the face a dull appearance. The same goes for a body scrub. By the way, did you know that you lose more than 30,000 dead skin cells every day?

Below we give you some recipes for original, aromatic, natural and highly effective homemade body and face peels.

Benefits of Using Body or Face Peels

  • Helps prevent or eliminate stretch marks
  • Gives the skin a natural glow
  • Promotes the creation of new cells
  • Activates the production of collagen
  • Improves blood circulation
  • Helps prevent wrinkles and sagging skin
  • Makes the skin softer
  • Allows the skin to process waste products and to ventilate itself

How to apply a facial peeling?

Wash the area where you want to apply the peel and, without drying your skin, gently massage the product into your skin in circles. Massage all over, but avoid sensitive areas, such as the eye area.

If you decide to apply the peel to thighs, buttocks, etc., apply a little more pressure until you feel the circulation being activated.

Let the product act for a couple of minutes and then rinse it off with water. Your skin will also be more hydrated if you add oils to the recipe. For dry skin, however, it is best to moisturize the skin again after the peeling.

How often should I use the peeling?

It is better not to use body and facial peels too often, because you have to respect the natural process of cell regeneration. That’s why we recommend youapply a body or face scrub.

Peeling for dry skin

With dry skin, the peeling should be done more gently and only once every two weeks. We have therefore based this recipe on sodium bicarbonate, which has a very fine structure. It is also alkalizing, which is ideal for the face and sensitive skin.

Mix the sodium bicarbonate thoroughly with olive oil, until the sodium bicarbonate is colored by the oil.

For an older skin type, we recommend adding a few drops of rosehip oil or geranium essential oil. This helps the skin regenerate on a deeper level.

Peeling for combination skin

Combination skin presents a greater challenge as it contains both oily and dry areas. Therefore, the peeling should be quite gentle and you should focus more on the oily areas. These areas are usually in the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin).

We use sodium bicarbonate again, but this time mix it with a less greasy oil, such as almond oil or sesame oil.

You can also choose to add some zest from an (preferably organic) orange. This gives the peel a nice aroma and makes it even more therapeutic.

Peeling for oily skin

Oily skin requires a weekly deep exfoliation. In this case, we use sugar as the base, which is slightly thicker than bicarbonate. Mix it with natural (or alternatively, store-bought) aloe vera gel. Add some lemon zest and possibly a few drops of lemon essential oil.

Peeling for acne

Skin with acne must be treated very delicately, because acne is actually an accumulation of small inflammations. Also, be sure to clean the skin regularly to remove any dirt.

Use a mixture of sodium bicarbonate, aloe vera gel, a few drops of coconut oil, and a few drops of tea tree essential oil or palmarosa oil.

body peeling

The skin of our body is much less sensitive than that of our face. So here you can apply a much deeper peel to improve circulation in areas such as the thighs, abdomen, arms and buttocks.

We therefore use coarse salt as a base. This works perfectly to massage the body and solve problems with circulation, cellulite, stretch marks etc.

Mix the salt with coconut oil and optionally add some rosemary essential oil to further promote circulation.
